This week, the Los Angeles Press Club celebrated its 60th annual Southern California Journalism Awards held at the Millennium Biltmore Hotel in Downtown LA. Congratulations are in order as Filipino American journalist Ruben V. Nepales (of Inquirer Entertainment) won for BEST ENTERTAINMENT NEWS or FEATURE for a two-part story he wrote on actress-activist Angelina Jolie, published by the Inquirer on September 7, 2017. This recognition was the first time Nepales competed in the category, through the sole non-American publication entry. He says, “Thanks, LA Press Club, for my first prize in the Southern California Journalism Awards. Honored to win for the Philippine Daily Inquirer and represent the Philippines in a tough category with the Los Angeles Times, LA Weekly and Bloomberg Businessweek.” CATEGORY NOMINATIONS:
