With a Business Management Degree from the College of St. Benilde in Manila, Philippines, Fiona Hilario (along with her two siblings) became the original founding members of the first Lay Bare. It opened in Makati City, Philippines on June 4, 2006. With just a budget of Php 200,000 ($3850.00), they were able to operate the first hair removal salon in the country using all-natural sugar jelly.

The salon had three cubicles and was just a few kilometers outside CBD. They chose to open in this neighborhood in Palanan as we all grew up in the Makati, Metro Manila area. A second location followed in just six months and the first franchise opened in BF Homes Paranaque in January, 2008. They currently operate over one hundred locations nationwide; thirty-four of it being company-owned while seventy-three are franchised. The investment to open a Lay Bare branch in the Philippines now is Php3.6M ($70,000). They have branches from Baguio and to Davao yet they wanted to expand outside the country. She is currently the Chairwoman of the Lay Bare Waxing Philippines, Incorporated (Lay Bare Waxing Salon) since June, 2006. However, they had their eyes set for the United States where hair removal was a mature and almost saturated market, but sugaring was almost unheard of.

Starting in Los Angeles County in Southern California, the first Lay Bare branch opened in Studio City (above) in 2012. It is located on the second floor at Unit #203 at 12265 Ventura Boulevard, Studio City, CA 91604 Currently, she is also the President and Chief Executive Officer of the Lay Bare Waxing of California, Inc. (Lay Bare Waxing Salon since July, 2012).

Lay Bare also opened a second branch in the City of West Hollywood (above). It is located at 7974 Santa Monica Blvd, West Hollywood, CA 90046. Currently, she is also the Managing Member of the Lay Bare Franchising, LLC WeHo location since January, 2018.

Lay Bare is a global hair removal salon, with one hundred nine locations across the Philippines and the United States. They are known for “sugaring”—using all-natural cold wax jelly, made of sugar, honey, s and citrus extracts; with exfoliating, moisturizing and whitening properties. Their skill, price point, and premium product sets them apart from the competition, providing clients with luxury experience at affordable prices.

Their affordable prices, packages, new client specials, and loyalty program bring new customers in and keep them coming back. Additional services like eyebrow threading and bikini facials, and their line of retail products to complement their services add benefit to both customers and franchisees. All of their products are FDA-approved, dermatologically-tested, and most are paraben-free. And, that is something you and your customers can get behind.
