​​The purpose of this Database is to make the information readily available to other Philippine Foreign Service Posts (i.e. Embassies or Consulates General) in various parts of the world that may be interested in organizing collaborative projects with you.  Using the Database, Foreign Service Posts that may be in receipt of inquiries regarding Filipino artists based in other countries for purposes of establishing linkages for possible projects may also make the appropriate referrals.
 
For its part, the Philippine Consulate General in Los Angeles will utilize the Database to collaborate with participating artists in future projects with a view to raising the profile and visibility of Filipinos and Filipino-Americans with the American general public.

PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE:

This past week, our local Filipino American community lost a hero, Mark Ho. He was a Marine, an Iraq veteran with PTSD, who was fighting off cancer, then eventually Covid. 

Although I never had the opportunity to meet him in person-- He was a hero in our local Filipino and So Cal community, and also to the nation as he was also a Marine veteran, who served in Iraq in 2002. Unfortunately where he also got cancer, service connected to his duties, along with PTSD. 

In spite of those battles, Mark Ho still made it his mission to give back and inspire others in the local community through his music and the act of just giving back.

As a veteran myself, while reading about him, I was thinking to myself (in veteran lingo) - "This dude is unreal, and of course he's going to keep fighting.. he's a Marine.. he fights, leads, and inspires until it's time to go... until you're forced to go home.. and with redeployment orders from the higher ups.."

Mark S. Villamac Ho (BagYo) was a combat veteran, a performer and artist, a mentor to young children, down-to-earth with no ego, that's probably why he was likable. He was the type of guy you can call at three in the morning and ask him to bail you out. Mark was a man of his word.

Though born in Iowa, USA, Annie built her musical career in the Philippines. In 2001, her vocal group, Three of A Kind, which was under Star Records of ABS-CBN, settled in the USA and continued concertizing. Annie holds degree in Musicology and Composition from the University of the Philippines, and a Certificate in Music Business from UCLA.

While teaching music privately and performing, Annie heads Music Arts Events Inc which deals with "Everything Music” which includes concerts at the Ford Theatres' Concert Tours like that of Ryan Cayabyab, and multi-zone events like the Travel, Trade and Consumer Road Show of Asian Journal. 

​Known as an highly organized event producer, Annie is also a record producer, music publisher under BMI, and piano and voice teacher that specializes in teaching digital recording.

Annie is an Awit Award winner (the Philippine Grammy) for her vocal arrangements which appear on albums by Sharon Cuneta, Rachel Alejandro, The CompanY and many more. Annie was a regular on the LA18 TV Show “Kababayan Today” for three years. Annie has done musical theatre (as Lady Thiang in “The King and I” with Debbie Gibson in Thousand Oaks) and guested in concerts of the Filipino-American Symphony Orchestra, Kayamanan ng Lahi, and other special events in Los Angeles.

Annie is one of the many performers on “Ryan, Ryan: The Maestro and the Ryan Cayabyab Singers” live concert at the John Wayne Performing Arts Center, 1440 E. Broadway at 6pm in Glendale, California. After graduating with a B.A. Degree in Fashion & Textiles design in San Francisco, and Business Administration at San Diego Stage, Mr. Galon began his creative career in marketing, public relations and special events in the fashion industry, producing high profile fashion shows which allowed him the opportunity to establish new product launches, public relations, design sets, choreograph shows and work exclusively with top couture designers and their collections, including many well known supermodels. In addition to fashion show presentations, Mr. Galon contributed his creative eye doing event planning & visual displays for such renown retail companies as I.Magnin, Neiman Marcus, Escada & Armani.

He is known for contributing vast amounts of energy, creativity and talent toward the success of special events such as Macy’s Passport Fashion Show, Sausilito Art Festival and has worked exclusively on esteemed companies such as Bob Mackie Fashions, Thierry Mugler, Oscar de la Renta, Hubert de Givenchy (with the late Audrey Hepburn), San Francisco Opera and Ballet Fashion shows, De Young Museum & Asian Art Museum featuring various haute couture designers. 

Combining his educational and professional career with fashion, Mr. Galon has been a beauty pageant aficionado. He started as staff member with pageants in the early 80’s with Miss Philippines USA Pageant, a preliminary to the Miss Philippines Universe, World and International Pageant in Manila, Philippines. He designed his first pageant gowns in 1983, which was the catalyst to study fashion design in college. He has since been Executive Director for local pageants in the Miss America program, worked as staff member for Miss USA, Miss Universe, coached countless pageant delegates and has judged numerous pageants across the country and internationally.

Twenty plus years in fashion and with pageant involvements, plus twenty years in personal development and public speaking has lead him to open an additional business called ‘Runway4Life’ (www.runway4life.com), a personal development, pageant & life coaching and wardrobe styling organization. Runway4Life has provided him the opportunity as keynote speaker at various events both nationally and Internationally, teaching his self-empowerment & personal development courses to hundreds of students.

His clothing line: ‘Joey Galon Atelier’ was officially launched at Miss USA 2010 in Las Vegas, showcasing his collections of evening gowns to the pageant world. His gowns have been seen on national and international pageant stages.

“I bring forth today, my original influences in my evening gowns. I appreciate a woman’s body and feel as if I am more of an artistic facilitator to enhance their natural born beauty. A good fit, well-made gown, style & color that reflects their personality is my most important motivation along with contributing my years of artistic education & experiences. This is my ultimate personal approach to design.”

He continues, “Graduating with a degree in fashion design and immersing myself with fashion and creativity for all my life, it had been an easy transition when I entered the special events industry. I take the same approach to color, balance and symmetry with events as when I design my gowns.”

“I especially target the pageant market because women are celebrated formally during the evening gown phases of competition and it brings me back to me fond memories of many black tie events I once was accustomed to growing up in the Big City. I think every woman should celebrate their beauty and moreover in a beautiful gown!”

As a FilAm born and raised in San Francisco with his Father’s origin from Bohol and Mother’s family origin from Cebu, his upbringing was highly influential by his parents whom were extremely involved with the Filipino communities, organizations & clubs holding leadership positions for many years. His Ninong was Alex Esclamado, the original founder & publisher of the Philippine News where Joey grew up running around the printing presses in his God-parent’s basement eventually appointed as a reporter for the newspaper covering all topics for the Youth Section of the newspaper. He was a former Philippine cultural dancer for the Samahan Dance Troupe as well as former President of his FilAm College Club.
