Filipinos and the Philippines were well represented in Marvel Studios’ new feature film, Avengers: Infinity War which opened worldwide last week, and in the U.S. last Friday, April 27. Three Filipino American actors (above), Jacob Batalon (Ned Leeds of "Spider-Man: Homecoming"), Ethan Dizon (Tiny McKeever of "Spider-Man: Homecoming") and Dave Bautista (Drax The Destroyer of "Guardians of the Galaxy") have officially appeared in the highest-grossing opening weekend film in the history of cinema! http://www.boxofficemojo.com/alltime/weekends/ Near the end of the movie, Thanos (played by James Brolin) teleports to a random planet that turned out to have been inspired by the Philippines. A spokesperson from Disney have reported that the filmmakers, Anthony Russo and Joe Russo at Marvel Studios selected the Ifugao Province — specifically the Banaue Rice Terraces in the Cordillera Region of the Philippines.

I’ve been working at "The Talk" since Season 1 and the show keeps getting better and better every year. I love working with each and every one of these people… They are my family. From director Jon M. Chu comes “Crazy Rich Asians” starring Filipino American actor Nico Santos (of NBC’s “Superstore”) and featuring Pinay personality, Kris Aquino. The film arrives in theaters on Wednesday, August 15, 2018 in the U.S. and Wednesday, August 22, 2018 in the Philippines in wide release. CRAZY RICH ASIANS follows native New Yorker Rachel Chu (Constance Wu) as she accompanies her longtime boyfriend, Nick Young (Henry Golding), to his best friend’s wedding in Singapore. Excited about visiting Asia for the first time but nervous about meeting Nick’s family, Rachel is unprepared to learn that Nick has neglected to mention a few key details about his life. It turns out that he is not only the scion of one of the country’s wealthiest families but also one of its most sought-after bachelors. Being on Nick’s arm puts a target on Rachel’s back, with jealous socialites and, worse, Nick’s own disapproving mother (Michelle Yeoh) taking aim. And it soon becomes clear that while money can’t buy love, it can definitely complicate things. Directed by Jon M. Chu (“Now You See Me 2”) and based on the acclaimed worldwide bestseller by Kevin Kwan, the film features an international cast of stars, led by Constance Wu (“Fresh Off the Boat”); Henry Golding, making his feature film debut; Gemma Chan (“Humans”); Lisa Lu (“2012”); and Awkwafina (upcoming “Ocean’s 8,” “Neighbors 2”); with Ken Jeong (the “Hangover” films”) and Michelle Yeoh (“Star Trek: Discovery,” “Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon”). The large starring ensemble also includes Sonoya Mizuno (“La La Land”), Chris Pang (“Marco Polo”), Jimmy O. Yang (“Silicon Valley”), comedian Ronny Chieng (“The Daily Show”), Remi Hii (“Marco Polo”), Nico Santos (“Superstore”) and Jing Lusi (“Stan Lee’s Lucky Man”). Color Force’s Nina Jacobson (“The Hunger Games” films) and Brad Simpson (“World War Z”), and Ivanhoe’s John Penotti (“Hell or High Water”) produced the film, with Tim Coddington, Robert Friedland, Sidney Kimmel and Kevin Kwan serving as executive producers. The screenplay is by Peter Chiarelli and Adele Lim, based on the novel by Kwan.

Now Playing on Netflix - https://www.netflix.com/title/80222896 The Hollywood Reporter (THR) spotlights some of the fresh faces who turned heads on the stage and one of them is Filipino/Mexican-American newcomer, Eva Noblezada. She landed the musical revival's lead role as Kim, the 17-year-old peasant girl who falls for an American soldier during the panicked final days of the Vietnam War, and reconnects with him, heartbreakingly, in Thailand years later in "Miss Saigon." On the West End and then on Broadway, Noblezada's vocals showed an expressive range and sweetness that cuts through all the noise and busy-ness that surrounds her character. Like Lea Salonga the first time around in 1989, she's a bona fide discovery, who puts a face of raw human pain on a mega-musical more often remembered for its showstopping helicopter scene.
